Have you actually tried restoring your backups?

A backup job can say “completed” every night without anyone checking whether the site can be restored.

How often do you test a restore, and where do you do it? A separate staging environment seems sensible, especially for a shop where you don’t want a test copy sending order emails or running scheduled payments.

Would be good to hear what people include in the check: files, database, uploaded media, settings—and how long it takes to get a working copy back.
